To a woman with news to tell 

To be married to Joseph

Joseph descended from King David

A young woman he had pledged to wed

She's the cousin of Elizabeth

She was Mary from Nazareth

 

She was chosen

She had a good, good heart

She had a strong, strong soul

By God's Angel

You'll be the mother of His child

 

The Angel greeted Mary and gave her some news

You have been chosen, The Lord is with you

You'll give birth to a Holy Son

He will have the thrown of God

His Kingdom will never end

So the baby born will be the Son of God
