Lazarus was Jesus' friend
He became ill and beyond mend
His sisters sent out urgent word
Hoping that Jesus would have heard

 

But Jesus didn't get to them in time
And by then Lazarus had died
Mary and Martha felt betrayed
Because Jesus didn't come right away

Jesus said to his two friends
"Your brother will truly rise again"
He went to where Lazarus lay
And then to God he did pray!

 

Then at the tomb Jesus did shout 
"Dear friend, Lazarus come out!"
And out walked Lazarus alive
Mary and Martha were so surprised
